SACS is the first direct link between Africa and South America. The Provisional Acceptance certificate was signed today at a ceremony in Luanda by Angola Cables CEO, António Nunes and NEC Corporation Project Manager, Hiroshi Kawakami.

Highly anticipated undersea cable will link Vanuatu and Solomon Islands
Ocean Specialists Inc. (OSI), a Florida, U.S. based subsea cable development and advisory company, today announced a partnership with Interchange Limited to lead overall project management and buildout of the ICN2 cable system linking Vanuatu and Solomon Islands. The ICN2 cable system is the first contract in force fiber-optic subsea cable to the Solomon Islands, answering the growing need for high speed internet among these small Pacific islands. The companies expect the system to be ready for service in the fourth quarter of 2019.
CSA Ocean Sciences Inc. (CSA), a marine environmental consulting firm, and HWCG LLC, a consortium of 18 offshore oil and gas operators, collaborated on the design of a deepwater sampling and monitoring equipment program to support the environmental needs of the offshore industry. The equipment program remains containerized, on standby, and ready to be immediately mobilized in the event a deepwater blowout occurs in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.
OSI continue supporting the SACS project as part of our turn-key contract with Angola Cables and we are glad to see important provisioning agreements, such as with IOX, take shape ahead of the upcoming RFS phase.
IOX Cable and Angola Cables have announced the signing of a joint provisioning agreement aimed at developing and enhancing their respective network capabilities and services across the Americas, Africa, Europe and India. By partnering with Angola Cables, IOX is consolidating its position by extending its network to Europe, South America and North America for the benefit of its customers through cable systems operated by Angola Cables.
The installation of the first direct link between Africa and South America is nearing completion. The wet-plant installation is progressing in accordance to the plan and the cables will arrive in Brazil at the beginning of February 2018. Construction works of the landing station/data center in Fortaleza, Brazil is also progressing well.
