Ocean Specialists, Inc. (OSI), a global provider of specialized subsea technical services and marine operations, today announced the appointment of Perry Wright to the role of president. Wright succeeds Jim Byous, who is retiring 19 years after taking the helm at OSI in 2003 and establishing the company as a marine project development specialist, but who will continue to serve as a board member in a non-executive advisory capacity.
Speaking of the appointment, Byous said: “I’m very pleased to see Perry step into this role, he has played an instrumental part in OSI’s growth over the last 13 years, leading some of our most significant projects, supporting our key technical developments, and forging lasting customer relationships.”
Wright has over 25 years’ experience of managing complex subsea engineering projects, having previously worked at Kvaerner, and later Teledyne ODI, where he oversaw the development of deep-water wet mate fiber optic connector technology for the oil and gas industry. On joining OSI in 2009, Wright assumed the lead on supporting the offshore energy sector with the development of submarine fiber optic networks around the globe.
Wright’s immediate focus as OSI’s president will be to build upon the company’s industry-leading reputation for delivering multistakeholder projects on time and on budget, while also implementing a strategy aimed at leveraging OSI’s corporate capabilities to better serve the diversifying needs of the defense sector with a fully integrated approach to subsea engineering, fabrication, and deployment services.
“I am very much looking forward to the opportunities that lie ahead for OSI,” said Perry Wright. “Over the past two decades, OSI has amassed extensive hands-on experience in the commercial analysis, planning, design, implementation, and ongoing management of multidisciplinary and highly technical offshore projects, and today this team of uniquely talented subsea professionals is poised for further expansion. From broad project management support to specific marine operational services to engineering and prototype development, our focus now is to present OSI as a turnkey supplier for executing purpose-driven system integration services for complex modern-day at-sea challenges.”
