Ocean Specialists, Inc has developed our proprietary C-Portal document management system. C-Portal (add link to the video) can interface with any traditional document storage facility and allows any document or data source to be geo-referenced and managed through the C-Portal user interface. OSI’s C-portal allows all documents and data specific to a location to be easily identified simply by drawing a box around the location of interest, be it a cable landing, cable station, a subsea fault location, cable crossing etc. All documents and data that are georeferenced within that bow are then listed and can be opened by clicking on the relevant file.
As an example, if a cable crossing of your system is being proposed by another entity, by drawing a box around the crossing location, all of the information associated with the area around that crossing can be accessed including; survey and installation data and reports, cable data and FAT records, repeater location and test data, etc. allowing for a rapid analysis of the risks to the cable and future cable maintenance that the proposed cable crossing creates.
C-Portal’s visual search capability can simplify the response and management process at times when an accurate and rapid response is critical, i.e. in the event of a cable failure, or the identification of an imminent threat to the cable through AIS or cable monitoring systems that can be integrated into the C-Portal system.
