Our team of experienced subsea engineers and system procurement specialists works in partnership with government and commercial customers to define a comprehensive program that includes a Developmental T&E strategy, which encompasses planning for technology development (including risk), assessing ocean system design, and identifying alternative prototyping and other at-sea T&E considerations.
OSI also runs Operational T&E programs, which includes the actual or simulated deployment of offshore technology and subsea engineering systems under realistic operational conditions.
- DOD Prime Contractors
- Universities & University Affiliated Research Centers (UARCs)
- DOD: DARPA, Navy, SOCOM, Army COE, and Air Force program offices, Warfare Centers
- Government R&D Institutions: ONR, AFRL,
- Small Businesses
With a network of strategically located offices, including multiple locations in the US (Texas, Florida, Massachusetts, California, and Louisiana) and regional operations around the globe (Australia, Guam, Cyprus, Brazil, Myanmar), OSI is staffed to mobilize fit-for-purpose teams, promptly.
We work from concept development through to the rapid prototyping and fielding of systems, and are comfortable working in collaboration with a range of stakeholder and organizations to run a comprehensive program of developmental and operational testing during which we observe, interpret, and communicate test results, advise on re-testing decisions, recommend mitigation strategies, and assist customers in making subsea engineering system acceptance decisions.
Our shallow and deep-water T&E expertise, includes:
- Submarine cable systems
- Subsea command systems and nodes
- ROV and submersible robotics
- Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USVs)
- Flotation and buoyancy materials/devices
- Pressure housings
- Deck Equipment (LARs, Winches, A-frames)
Extensive T&E Resources
Safety is an operational priority at OSI and operating around the globe requires that we comply with international standards in addition to OSHA and US EPA regulations. We actively manage our business activities to achieve and exceed the highest US and international HSSE standards, and constantly monitor and assess our achievements in an effort to continually improve our HSSE program.
To facilitate this uncompromising culture of Safety as a Priority, OSI utilizes a Safety and Environmental Management System (SEMS) approach to safety program administration.
Safety as a Priority
Our range of marine engineering equipment and services allows us to develop robust marine T&E programs with optimal efficiency.
Our T&E tools and facilities include access to our state-of-the-art engineering, integration and test facility in Stuart, FL. With convenient access to the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway, as well as a sizeable onsite test lake, our experienced engineering team has the resources to design and manufacture complex composite parts, safety components, and high-concept solution based technologies. Our high-specification fabrication and assembly unit is fitted with cutting-edge CNC machinery, mills, weld shop and NDT equipment.
Our ability to extend T&E Programs to the continental shelf and open ocean range is not only supported by our fleet of vessels, USVs, AUVs and UAVs, but also our comprehensive catalogue of rental oceanographic equipment, which includes an extensive portfolio of winches, LARS, A-frames, and USVs, as well as wide range of other metocean, hydrographic and geophysical instrumentation.
- Internationally, complies with the requirements of OSHSAS.
- Working toward compliance with ISO 45001 in 2016.
- Registered and utilizes ISNETWORLD for oil and gas subcontractor vetting, both in the United States and internationally.
- Provides trained and professional safety personnel for offshore environmental monitoring and marine activities.
- Extremely low TRIR and EMR Rates.
T&E Data Processing, Management & Visualization
We understand that product qualification and robust Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) is contingent on identifying, processing and managing the most relevant data. The centralization and visualization of data, from collection through archiving, is a principal challenge in every project. At the core of our services is secure, online geoportal technology.
EDGSonline is a web-based platform that offers authorized users the opportunity to view, interact with, and analyze layers of geospatial information, including data, documents, and imagery. The advanced capabilities of our custom platform include geofencing, asset tracking, real-time updates, mobile applications, consumable content, georeferenced video playback, and video mosaicking.
Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and Experienced Dive Teams
Each phase of our T&E programs is carried out by expert personnel. We are able to custom pick SMEs from our stable of ocean specialists, which includes subsea engineers, geotechnical surveyors, marine scientists, hydrographers, technologists, certified divers, etc.
Our diving division is an accredited member of the American Academy of Underwater Sciences (AAUS), and all OSI divers are certified in SCUBA by an internationally recognized organization and trained as specialty divers for utilizing enriched air (Nitrox). In addition, all divers are trained in American Red Cross cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid, and experienced with Federal dive safety practices (Occupational Safety and Health Administration [OSHA], US Army Corps of Engineers [USACE], and Association of Diving Contractor [ADC] Standards).
